4 Reasons Why You SHOULD Drink Coffee
Nutrition professionals have had remarkable success with demonizing incredibly healthy foods. One of the worst examples of that is coffee. Now I wouldn’t recommend going to your local café and ordering an extra-large-double-double, which packs a whopping 280 calories. However, drinking one or two cups of black coffee a day does possess a variety of health benefits that are often underappreciated and underreported. Here is my top four:
4) Caffeine may boost your memory for up to 24 hours after consumption. People who consumed the caffeine equivalent of 2 cups of coffee were 12% better at recalling images in one study conducted by Johns Hopkins University researchers.
3) Coffee contains compounds linked to a reduced risk of cancer, reduced skin ageing and other signs of growing older.
2) Coffee can improve your workout! In a study conducted by researchers at the University of Rhode Island, weightlifters who drank 20 ounces of coffee were able to pump more reps out on their final set, and also reported less muscle soreness up to three days later with daily caffeine intake.
1) Coffee has been shown to affect mood, regulating neurotransmitters such as serotonin in a positive way. There has even been some speculation that drinking coffee daily could prevent Parkinson’s disease.
So feel free to drink that daily cup of coffee—just make sure you don’t drown it in cream and sugar!
