Top 10 At-Home Exercises
It’s the middle of Winter in Canada, and that means ice, snow, wind and cold! Understandably, many people at this time of year find it hard just to get outside, let alone get to the gym. But exercise is still important. Luckily, there is a solution: at-home exercises.
There are many exercises you can do right in your own home that don’t require any equipment, weights or supervision. Calisthenics can be a useful tool in any workout arsenal, especially when you perform movements that focus on more than one body area. Here are my top ten, in no particular order:
- Squat Jumps
- Forward Lunges
- Side Lunges
- Push-Ups with Single Leg Raise
- Supine Pelvic Tilts
- Gluteal Bridges
- Front Planks
- Side Planks
Precautions with At-Home Exercises
It’s important to notice that I have not included any situps or crunches. That is because they are 100% ineffective and potentially even unsafe – read more about why you should never do crunches. The at-home exercises I’ve outlined here can be very effective if performed correctly. If you are not familiar with these exercises or haven’t done them in a while, please look up instructions or videos online and consider practicing in front of a mirror first to make sure you’re doing them properly. If you require any assistance with these or other at-home exercises please reach out to me.
